Travel Summary

  • British nationals should avoid rallies, demonstrations and public gatherings and remain vigilant.  Special care should be taken in market areas.  See Safety and Security – Crime.
  • Malawi is due to host the African Union Summit between 9-16 July 2012. Accommodation in the host city (Lilongwe) is likely to be extremely limited during this period. If you intend to travel to Lilongwe during the dates of the summit then you should check that your accommodation is confirmed before departing.
