Travel Summary

  • We advise against all travel to Nagorno-Karabakh and the military occupied area surrounding it. Any individual who has visited Nagorno-Karabakh without the permission of the Azerbaijani authorities will be refused entry to Azerbaijan.
  • The Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Baku between 22 and -26 May 2012.  See Eurovision 2012.  Azerbaijan has simplified its visa regime for those wishing to attend Eurovision. Details can be found on the Eurovision Baku 2012 website.  However, British nationals not visiting for Eurovision must obtain visas before travelling. See Entry Requirements - Visas.
  • Azerbaijan faces a general threat from terrorism. Attacks could be indiscriminate and against civilian targets and places frequented by foreigners.
